And pick your own fruits. The apples grow like crazy in Frederick and there is nothing better than fresh fruit! You can pick your own or buy it picked at Catoctin Mountain Orchard.
Or go to a farmer’s market.
Not in the mood to pick your own? The local farmer’s markets stock up on all of the fall goodies and you can peruse the stands to find just what you need to get creative in the kitchen!
Go on a train ride.
The Walkersville Southern Railroad takes passengers on historic excursions through the Frederick country side. Fall is the optimal time to enjoy a trip so you can see the natural beauty that lives in Frederick.
Hit up a winery.
With over 1,000 acres of grapes growing in Maryland, it’s no surprise that Frederick is home to countless wineries. The fall season is a great time to get out and enjoy a tasting or two. Find a local winery you love on the Maryland Wine Trail.
Or try a microbrewery instead.
Fall and beer go hand in hand and with the influx of microbreweries to the area, you might as well get out and sample a few brews. Start at one of the newer breweries to call Frederick home, Attaboy Brewery, and then work around from there.
